Bus Contention

Contention occurs when two or more tri-state devices try and access the same bus simultaneously. For example, if both of the devices are enabled in the following diagram, bus contention will occur.

In some cases, this may result in the destruction of data on the bus. Digital Works will stop a running circuit and display a warning should bus contention occur.
