Tri-State Device
The Tri-State device is a special type of gate provided by Digital Works. The Tri-State Device has a special input labelled "enable". When enable is equal to logic 1, the device behaves normally with its output the same logic level as its input. When enable is equal to logic zero, the output is physically disconnected from the gate's internal circuitry. This state is normally called floating.
Placing the Gate
To place the gate object into a circuit workspace, select the gate icon and move the mouse pointer into the active view. Press the left mouse button to fix the device at the required location. To rotate the gate device on the workspace, click on the gate with the object selector tool and then rotate the gate by clicking and dragging the plus sign to the required position.
